‘Our Son’s Story’ – a parent’s perspective

For our recent campaign day ‘Living with Obesity’ in collaboration with the Irish Coalition for People Living with Obesity (ICPO) and the European Coalition for People Living with Obesity (ECPO), this emotive piece was submitted by D. Murphy for a newsletter aimed at raising awareness for the need to end weight stigma. Today, on World Children’s Day, we are sharing this again. Read the article here.

“The Convention on the Rights of the Child explains who children are, all their rights, and the responsibilities of governments. All the rights are connected,
they are all equally important and they cannot be taken away from children. All children have all these rights, no matter who they are, where they live, what language they speak, what their religion is, what they think, what they look like, if they are a boy or girl, if they have a disability, if they are rich or poor, and no matter who their parents or families are or what their parents or families believe or do. No child should be treated unfairly for any reason.”
