Obesity Forum: The hidden influencer – tackling marketing of unhealthy food to children in today’s digital world

This All-island Obesity Action Forum webinar is hosted in association with safefood, the Association for the Study of Obesity in Northern Ireland Network, and the Association for the Study of Obesity on the island of Ireland. The programme will focus on latest evidence on the impact, and areas of action on the marketing of foods and drinks to children. Dr Mimi-Tatlow-Golden will discuss the impact of marketing unhealthy food to children, with particular emphasis on digital media. Dr João Breda from the World Health Organisation will outline national policy options and the WHO/Europe monitoring framework, known as CLICK to assist member states in monitoring digital marketing of unhealthy products to children. Dr Frans Folkvord from Tilburg University, The Netherlands will provide insights into how marketing techniques can be used to promote healthy foods.

Ms Diane Charlton from the Irish Coalition for People Living with Obesity will share a parent’s perspective on the impact of marketing of unhealthy food to children. Ms Ursula O’Dwyer will provide an overview of EU work that Ireland and Portugal are leading.
