The European Coalition for People Living with Obesity (ECPO) are launching a campaign on October 21st themed “Living with Obesity” and the focus is on raising awareness about stigma and People First language.
We at the Irish Coalition for People Living with Obesity (ICPO) and the Association of Studies of Obesity Ireland (ASOI) are collaborating to support and host this campaign on a national level in Ireland. Here are our plans on how we will do this:
Video Recording
We are creating a video of short recordings which will be combined to include both healthcare professionals and people living with obesity sharing their thoughts on obesity stigma.
This will be shared on social media and relevant websites on the day
Newsletter
We will publish a short newsletter which will focus mostly on stigma. This will also be shared widely across social media and on our website.
Infographic
We will circulate an informative infographic on obesity stigma.
Online Discussion on Stigma
We will host an online discussion on stigma from 7.30pm-9pm. This will be open for both healthcare professionals and people with obesity to attend.
Places will need to be booked in advance as we will need to set a limitation of attendees.
We invite you to join us in supporting this campaign!
You are welcome to send a recording or written quote, please e-mail icpobesity@gamil.com for details on how to do this.
We will be using the hashtag #LivingWithObesity throughout the day.
We will be tagging @ecpobesity @asoi and @icpobesity in all social media posts.
