Call for Abstracts

We cordially invite abstract submissions for our 9th Annual Meeting to be held on October 11th, 2024, at The Aisling Hotel, Dublin. 

We are accepting abstracts for oral and poster presentations. Abstracts are welcome from all fields related to the study of obesity, particularly (but not limited to) those related to the conference theme. We will accept both quantitative and/or qualitative research submissions and abstracts on research at any stage of development, from protocols to completed studies. We encourage submissions from across the spectrum of prevention to treatment, including policy and practice. 

We will accept abstracts under the following categories: 

  • Prevention
  • Treatment
  • Basic and applied sciences
  • Policy

The ASOI 2024 Prizes will be awarded for the best oral and poster presentations

The date to submit abstracts will close at 17:00 on September 9th 2024

Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words and formatted according to these headings: Background, aims, methodology, results and conclusions.

All abstracts will be peer reviewed by the Conference Organising Committee. All accepted abstracts will be published in the official conference abstract book which will be made available through the ASOI website and other online platforms. Please indicate, during the abstract submission process, if for any reason you prefer not to have your abstract published in the book of abstracts. Please submit any queries with ‘Abstract 2024’ in the subject to info@asoi.info

Research Challenges / Collaboration Elevator Pitches

We invite expressions of interest for the ‘Research Challenges / Collaboration Elevator Pitch’ session at our 9th Annual Meeting to be held on October 11th, 2024.

The Research Challenges / Collaboration Elevator Pitch session is designed to promote research networking.  It is an opportunity for researchers, academic educators, healthcare professionals, patients, and others to briefly outline a specific research challenge and/or call for collaborators in all fields related to the study of obesity.  We encourage submissions from across the spectrum of prevention to treatment, including policy and practice.

Proposed pitches may relate to any stage of the research process (e.g. pitching a research idea; preliminary research or consultation; describe a challenge experienced on an existing project / service; highlight expertise needed for an existing funded study) and evidence of existing funding is not necessary. 

Expressions of interest (EOI) should include:

Title (max 15 words):

Details on the research challenge or collaboration pitch (max 150 words)

Submissions will be reviewed by the Conference Organising Committee and four applicants will be invited to deliver their 3-minute elevator pitch the event.  Details of the research challenge or collaboration call (as per EOI details submitted by applicants) will be published in the conference abstract booklet.  The abstract booklet will be circulated to all registered participants and made available through the ASOI website.   Please indicate, during the EOI submission process, if for any reason you prefer not to have your details published in the book of abstracts.
