What is the ASOI Research Repository?

The ASOI Research Repository is a digital collection of research publication citations related to obesity from contributors affiliated with organisations on the island of Ireland. It was funded by the ASOI and developed by researchers. 

How was the ASOI Research Repository developed?

A systematic process for identifying and selecting citations for inclusion in the research repository was followed.   In 2022, a search strategy was developed and a systematic online database search and selection process by was undertaken.  Criteria for inclusion were publications that were explicitly related to obesity prevention, weight bias and stigma, basic science, treatment, and healthcare at all stages of the lifecycle AND with at least one author affiliated to an Irish or Northern Irish institution or organisation.  The ASOI continues to screen monthly results from online databases using the same search strategy and update the research repository accordingly. 

How to use the ASOI Research Repository

The ASOI Research Repository provides citations and abstracts for already published and indexed citations from online research databases. The full articles are available external to the ASOI website subject to the access policies of the original publishers – e.g. MEDLINE, Embase.

The research is categorised by research / healthcare topics which are available to view on the filters below.  The ASOI would like to use this resource to foster networking among obesity related researchers and identify research priorities for patients with obesity, healthcare providers and research teams.  We invite you to explore the exciting and active space of Irish obesity related research and should you discover something missing please contact us here to let us know
